Self-Entitlement and Social Jeopardy

I think it’s time we get really honest about where all this aberrant behavior in the news originates.

You can dress it up as religion, wealth, politics, sports or any combination of these, but it’s all about self-entitlement and the limitless opportunity to put others in social  – and often economic – jeopardy to stand up and just say ‘no’ – and mean it.

And I don’t feel it’s male-bashing to notice that most of the criminally self-entitled who engineer their will and mayhem on others are men. This self-entitlement didn’t just suddenly appear out of nowhere. This is a millennially honored male tradition of cultivating the ‘me’ at the expense of the ‘we’ – the ‘we’ most often being women of no relevance or relation to the ‘main event’ of whatever self-entitled male agenda unfolds.

Where does self-entitlement begin? Aside from being gender-correct by birthright, in high school locker rooms where it becomes the psyche’s ‘gateway drug’ on the path to life’s other high school locker rooms- the board rooms, the war rooms (conventional or renegade), the congressional chambers,  or whatever other male-dominated stronghold of authority and influence. Where what is wanted is deemed allowed since anyone in the way of the end goal is deemed nothing more than collateral damage or friendly casualties.

This kind of mindset is passed on from generation to generation of males, and when the fallout goes ‘rogue’ to the extreme, everybody throws up their hands like they’ve no idea where that kind of behavior originated.

Guess this is where social jeopardy pays off for women – we know it wasn’t us.
